Conservation at Work Every Day

Shaker Village's Wildlife Habitat Management Project

Through a partnership with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, Shaker Village has restored more than 1,200 acres of native warm-season grasses and wildflowers. The project has resulted in an explosion in quail and songbirds. The KDFWR considers Shaker Village a statewide model of successful habitat management. This superior native habitat requires significant management, including controlled burns, herbicide treatments, regular plantings, and ongoing monitoring. Proceeds from the hunt support this wildlife conservation project and other efforts.
