Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources

Conservation Camps

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources operates three Conservation Camps across the state of Kentucky: Camp John Currie, Camp Earl Wallace, and Camp Robert Webb. As part of our commitment to outdoors education, the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation grants scholarships to youth in need and funds capital construction projects at each of the camps.

Each summer, an average of 4,500 Kentucky youth in grades 4-6 attend camp. Campers participate in outdoor activities such as archery, boating, and swimming and gain skills in outdoor survival and firearm safety. Achievement patches are awarded to students who successfully complete these activities. Children may also earn their Kentucky Hunter Education Certificate while attending Conservation Camp. Aside from gaining valuable skills and earning achievement patches, campers make lasting connections with one another and the outdoors.

The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation collaborates with KDFWR Conservation Educators to provide camp scholarships to children in need. Since the inception of the Sponsor a Camper program, the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation has sent more than 3,200 kids to Conservation Camp totaling over $500,000 in scholarships.
